MEFMI conducted an in-country workshop in Kigali on macroeconomic modelling and forecasting, equipping officials with econometric techniques aligned with the Institute's Phase VI strategy.
MEFMI organised an in-country workshop on introduction to macroeconomic modelling and forecasting from 28 August to 8 September 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda. The workshop aligned with the MEFMI Phase VI strategy, which identifies modelling and forecasting as a key focus area for the region.
The objective was to equip participants with an understanding of macroeconomic modelling and forecasting techniques, building their ability to apply standard econometric methods — from data collection and management to equation estimation, model building and forecasting. Practical exercises used Rwanda's macroeconomic data and EViews software. In the longer term, the skills acquired are expected to contribute to well-informed economic policymaking, reliable economic projections and effective policy discussions.
