The Governors Forum is traditionally held between July and August each year and is attended by the central bank Governors from the MEFMI region. It is the apex executive forum, bringing together the heads of the region's central banks to discuss the most pressing macroeconomic, monetary and financial stability challenges facing member states.
Recent fora have addressed themes such as climate change and central banking (2023, held in Livingstone, Zambia) and leveraging emerging technologies for macroeconomic and financial management. The deliberations and recommendations from the Governors Forum feed directly into the Institute's strategic priorities and the region's policy agenda. Reports of proceedings are published in the Institute's publications library.
